# Getting requests to the local network

UI Bakery requests go through a data source Docker container located on its own network, and the requests to certain local APIs outside of the network cannot be executed, since there's nothing available inside the container for that API.\
\
To make those requests, you can edit the `docker-compose.yml` file and add/modify the settings for the data source container (and, as a precaution, also for the bakery-back container) by specifying extra\_hosts there.\
\
In UI Bakery, you should use the specified `extra_host` instead of `localhost` or `192.168....` when making requests.

**Example:**

```docker
extra_hosts:
    - "host.docker.internal:host-gateway"
```

\
<http://host.docker.internal/>\
\
You can also learn more in the Docker documentation: <https://docs.docker.com/compose/compose-file/compose-file-v3/#extra_hosts>

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.uibakery.io/on-premise/networking-and-security/getting-requests-to-the-local-network.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
