# AWS Athena

UI Bakery allows you to easily connect to AWS Athena with no need for additional layers like APIs or third-party services.

## Configuration

### Prerequisites

To establish a connection between UI Bakery and AWS Athena, you first need to obtain the authentication credentials for the IAM user associated with your Athena service - specifically *Access key ID* and *Secret access key ID*.

### Connecting the data source

Once you've obtained the necessary credentials, you can proceed to configuring AWS Athena as your data source. Follow the steps below:

1. On the **Data sources** page, click **Connect**, and select *AWS Athena* in the Data sources list.
2. Specify all the necessary credentials:

* S3 output location
* AWS region
* Access key ID
* Secret access key ID
* Role to assume

3. Click **Test connection** to check whether the data source can be connected, and then click **Connect Datasource** to complete the setup.

## Usage

Once you have established the connection between UI Bakery and AWS Athena, you can start interacting with its data.&#x20;

To manage data from AWS Athena, you can use the [SQL Query](https://docs.uibakery.io/reference/working-with-actions/sql-query) action step.
